Wednesday spontaneous post
Good morning.
I couldn’t sleep last night because my heart was heavy, I prayed for day to break because of the nightmare of yesterday’s massacre. I wept for my nation Nigeria.
Initially the Nigerian army stated that they will commence their yearly “crocodile dance” on the 20th of October, 2020 and it had nothing to do with the protest. Little did we know it will be a bloody dance.
The Nigerian army was deployed and positioned in strategic areas awaiting order from above.
The Nigerian government sent out armored tanks to attack UNARMED peaceful protesters at Lekki toll gate by 7pm.
The army shot sporadically at protesters, thereby killing many protesters and left many injured. An ambulance was sent for but the Nigerian army denied them passage to rescue gunshot victims, they were rather sent back.
The painful part was that during the shooting the protesters all sat down on the ground holding one another and sang the Nigerian anthem. You could hear and feel the pain, fear in their voices as they sang.
During a live video which was recorded by the brave DJ SWITCH, we watched a protester die, and before he died he’s last words were “peace and Unity”, which is in our national anthem.
Here are some of the pictures from last night:
