  As part of activities commemorating the 60th independence anniversary of the country, President Muhammadu Buhari will broadcast to the nation on Thursday, October 1, 2020 at 7am. The Presidency states this in an updated statement on Wednesday evening. It further advised that all television, radio and other electronic media outlets are hook up to network services of the Nigerian Television Authority (NTA) and the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN) respectively for the address. The statement made available to DAILY POST by Femi Adesina, Spokesman to the President, said that Buhari will, thereafter, proceed to the Eagle Square, Abuja to review the Anniversary Parade and participate in other activities beginning at 10am, which will be covered live by major television and radio stations. It said that “This updated statement supersedes our earlier one indicating an open-air live Presidential Address on October 1st.” From dailypost.

  Davido has suspended the proposed wedding between him and his fiance, Chioma Avril Rowland, popularly known as Chef Chi with a new date to be decided later. The wedding had earlier been scheduled for July this year but it had to be suspended due to the coronavirus pandemic that had altered activities across the world. During an interview with Ebuka Obi-Uchendu on Bounce Radio Live, Davido was asked when the wedding would happen and he said “ I have decided probably sometimes next year or whenever … for now, I want her to walk on her business.. Album… Kids” He revealed that he met his fiance about seven years ago through his manager Lati and they started dating about five years ago. When he was asked about what attracted him to Chef Chi, Davido described her as a very reserved, accomodating and caring person who he could leave his other kids with.   The President of Nigeria, Muhammadu Buhari  will on Thursday, 1st October 2020, address Nigerians in a live broadcast from the Eagle Square in Abuja. The address will commence after the anniversary parade by 10am.

  In an interview series, blackbox, which was hosted by Ebuka Obi Uchendu on Bounce Radio Live, Davido  has revealed that his siblings are richer than him. Davido who gave reasons for pursuing a musical career said this during a live interview on Wednesday. The ‘FEM’ crooner said he is only doing music because he loves the craft. “If I don’t do music today, I will still be rich. My siblings are richer than me. “If I work in my dad’s power plant I will be a billionaire in dollars. I am only doing music because I love the craft.”

Winner of Big Brother Naija, BBNaija, 2020 reality television show, Laycon, has finally received his 30 Million Naira cheque. Laycon received his cheque, a car and a house key from the organizers of the show. The presentation was done live on BBNaija channel on DSTV and GOTV.  Federal Government has declared October 1st as a public holiday, ahead of its 60th Independence Day celebrations. The federal government has announced increased security measures for Nigeria’s 60th Independence Anniversary celebration. Ahead of the October 1 event, security has been enhanced in and around the venue – Eagle Square in Abuja. Minister of Information, Lai Mohammed, made the announcement in a statement Tuesday night. He noted that from midnight on Wednesday, all routes leading to the Eagle Square will be blocked. The Shehu Shagari Way, Ahmadu Bello Way, outward and inward-bound Airport and adjoining roads will also be shut to traffic. Additionally, the Federal Secretariat will be evacuated by 2.00 pm on Wednesday. “This means all workers within the precinct of the Eagle Square are expected to vacate their offices from that time”, Mohammed said.

  Big Brother Naija lockdown edition third runner up, Nengi has revealed that her friendship with Prince ended because he did not have her back. Nengi in her post-eviction interview with Ebuka said Prince was all about the game and not about friendship. The duo who were friends in the first few weeks of the show stopped talking to each other before Prince’s eviction. She said, ”I felt like the period I was friends with Prince he did not really have my back. I felt Prince had a strategy because he was all about the game.”

  Disqualified Big Brother Naija season 5 Housemate, Erica Nlewedim has denied reports that the winner of the show, Laycon, told her he was a Sickle Cell carrier. According to him, “My blood group is Sickle Cell, I don’t like to tell people my genotype because I feel they will think I’m sick.” Following the development,  Erica was dragged  after many social media users claimed Laycon told her about his health issues which she used against him during the altercation that led to her disqualification. However, Erica in a video via her Instagram account on Tuesday morning dismissed the claims, adding that she never knew Laycon had Sickle Cell.   Mavin Records boss, Don Jazzy, has reacted to the recent outburst of one of his artists, Rema on social media. Rema on Monday went wild with series of tweets via his Twitter account where he made a lot of revelations. The Popular Nigerian artiste, also called out the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, over the death of his father, Justice Ikubor. He accused PDP of having a  hand in death of his father  who was was a high ranking member of the PDP in Edo State and former General Manager of the state-owned Ethiope Publishing Company before his death. Following the development, twitter users who were concerned about Rema’s tweets reached out to Don Jazzy and asked him to do something about the revelations Rema was making on Twitter. One Twitter user also asked that his password should be changed to stop him from tweeting.   The  Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission ICPC  has noted that  up to N2.67 billion meant for school feeding has been uncovered, during the COVID-19 lockdown in personal bank accounts. This was disclosed yesterday by the Chairman of ICPC,  Prof. Bolaji Owasanoye , while delivering a keynote address at the second National Summit on Diminishing Corruption with the theme: “ Together Against Corruption and the launch of the National Ethics and Integrity Policy ” held at the Council Chambers of the Presidential Villa, Abuja. He further disclosed that over N2.5 billion diverted by a senior civil servant in the Ministry of Agriculture, who is now deceased was uncovered. Owasanoye highlighted other assets recovered in the Agric ministry to include 18 buildings, 12 business premises and 25 plots of land.
