  Pastor Enoch Adeboye of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, RCCG, on Sunday revealed why coronavirus did not consume Nigeria. Adeboye, who is the General Overseer of RCCG, disclosed that the mercy of God saved Nigeria from being consumed by COVID-19. Papa G.O. as he is fondly called spoke during the first Sunday service in November tagged ‘Better days ahead” at Redemption Camp, along Lagos-Ibadan expressway. According to Oyedepo: “If not for the mercy of God, coronavirus would have consumed Nigerians. “Compared to developed countries, God has been faithful to Nigeria.” He also urged Nigerians to continue praying for God’s mercy and protection as the world is trying to overcome the pandemic. Adeboye also cautioned Nigerians against taking God’s mercy for granted.

  The lawmaker representing Surulere 1 at the Lagos State House of Assembly, Desmond Elliot, has come under attack for referring to protesters as children and saying that Nigeria may disintegrate if the social media space is not regulated. The Nollywood veteran had while issuing the warning during plenary lamented the massive looting in the wake of the End SARS protests across the country.   The former Minister of Finance in Nigeria, Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, has emerged as the new Director General of the World Trade Organization. She is the first female and first African Director-General of the WTO.   In a keenly contested election, Okonjo-Iweala beat her rival, South Korean Yoo Myung hee, with a wide margin. She polled 104 votes from 164 member countries to defeat Myung Hee at the final stage of the race.   Okonjo-Iweala received widespread support from Africa and other continents before the election which took place today October 28.   Her victory comes days after European Union member nations backed her candidacy against Ms. Myung hee, who was supported by the United States.   The official announcement is expected to be made by the WTO at 3pm Nigerian time today.
